Art and Design lessons at St Vincent’s aim to engage, inspire and challenge our pupils as well as equip them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.
As pupils progress through the school, they develop the skills to think critically and use a wide range of media such as paints, crayons, pastels, paper, fabrics and clay.
Design and Technology lessons provide our pupils with the opportunity to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, they develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world. As part of their work with food, pupils are taught how to cook and apply the principles of nutrition and healthy eating.
Furthermore, we now have a new D&T room where the children can further develop their knowledge and understanding within this subject.
