Class and individual topics are usually historically, environmentally or scientifically based, and the discovery and learning involved embraces the whole curriculum. Geographical Skills develop factual knowledge in Physical and Human Geographical aspects such as Map Work (Ordinance Survey maps, 6 figure grid references) as well as focused study on a country from Europe, including Russia, and the Americas.

Historical skills include placing events and people from the past in chronological order, summarising events from periods of history and elaborating on what happened. Children look at the influence of Britain around the world and the influence of other countries and civilisations (historically and more recently). Key Stage 2 Historians are taught to describe key events from the past using a range of evidence from different sources as well as present key historical events and way of life from studied periods to an audience.
