UKS2 investigate their hearts!
Today in year 6, children created their own scientific experiment. They came up with the question: ‘How do different types of activity affect our heart rate’.
The children used scientific enquiry skills to build a hypothesis; their heart rate would increase in line with the intensity of the exercise they participated in.
Children recorded their measurement through systematic monitoring of their heart rate.
Children came up with different exercises to test this out! Children were performing jogs, sprinting, squats, burpees, star jumps and many, many more movements!
Their hypothesis was proven to be accurate! They understood that the more you exercise, the more blood needs to pumped to supply nutrients to your muscles which by its very nature, caused an increase in heart rate!
